The Play Resource Centre - Scrap
One persons scrap is another's resource!
We visit a large number of local, and not so local businesses and ask to be allowed to rummage through their waste.
To many businesses this seems a very odd request. They are even more surprised when we gasp over the ‘gorgeous' nature of what they had planned to send to a landfill site. These businesses are also surprised to learn what they can save in waste disposal costs by working with us and donating their valuable scrap waste.
The scrap that these businesses donate is our lifeblood, without their waste we could not operate.
Scrap can be: paper off-cuts, fabric swatches, packing foam, lengths of rope, sheets of card, polystyrene, rolls of wallpaper, carpet, inner tubes, bubble wrap, ceramic tiles, plastic sheeting, spools of yarn, pieces of lino, beautiful tiny pieces of coloured plastic, and a million other nameless things.
Our Scrap is priced in the following way.
All our scrap is either individually priced or is sold by the scrap bag.
From October 2009 our scrap bag prices are:
- £2.00 for a Small Carrier Bag
- £4.00 for a Large Bag
In schools, playgroups, nurseries and homes across South Wales, adults are looking for resources for creative play with their children. Carnival organisers are seeking something large and oddly shaped to make an elephant for their float. Impoverished art students are hunting for materials for a giant collage. We are the resource base they turn to. Over the past year we have had thousands of visits from thousands of satisfied customers.
